S.A.D.
This week’s blog title may be appropriate for some of the violent events that have taken place in our state over the past few weeks. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to all who have been affected by these acts of violence.
When I wrote this blog, it was originally not with the intent of acknowledging the tragic loss of life due to violence. It was to call out that Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) can sometimes affect some of us during winter in Minnesota. SAD is a type of depression that relates to the lack of sunlight with the change of seasons. When SAD occurs, some people have reduced energy, are more sleepy, put on weight due to eating more, and they find their mood worsened. There are treatments for SAD that include light therapy, psychotherapy, and medications. Speaking with a mental health professional can also help a person navigate the changes they experience when suffering from SAD. If you suffer from SAD and would like to explore treatment options, please get in touch with us at 320-769-4323. Although winter can be long, your suffering with SAD does not have to be with treatment options available. Hang in there; Spring is around the corner.
