Board of Directors
Johnson Memorial Health Services is governed by the Board of Directors. They meet the last Monday of every month in the Conference Room located at JMHS. The meeting is open to the public.
We have several openings for the board in the upcoming election. Please see below information to learn more.
You’re Invited to Serve
Join the JMHS board. The personal rewards are great, as you contribute your life experience to realizing our mission to provide high-quality, compassionate healthcare close to home
Johnson Memorial Health Services (JMHS) is recognized regionally as one of the top rural healthcare organizations. Our nine-member volunteer board of directors, staffed by engaged community members, helps ensure our success by overseeing strategy and policy to regulatory and financial oversight.
Is board membership right for you? We’re seeking kind and compassionate individuals who thrive on working with a group, achieving goals together, and have a sincere interest in modern healthcare.
The commitment
- The board meets for two hours on the last Monday of the month or 24 hours per year, and it may assign you to a subcommittee. In addition, we ask that you attend a board member orientation meeting and optional board events for ongoing education and stay in touch with your township’s healthcare needs.
- Board members serve 4-year terms and receive a $50 stipend plus mileage for each meeting they attend.
What You’ll Do
Our vision drives the board member’s job, “We Inspire Change and Make a Healthy Difference in People’s Lives,” and weave that theme through every decision. Areas of influence include:
- Fiscal Responsibility: One crucial duty is to ensure the balance sheet adds up and prepare JMHS with resources for the future.
- The CEO: You’ll evaluate the performance of our new CEO and provide ongoing support regarding operations and policy.
- Continuous Quality Improvement: We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished at Johnson Memorial Health Services, but we’re committed to continuous improvement to take our services to the next level.
- Provider Credentialing: Ensure that our healthcare providers have and maintain the proper credentials, accreditations, and licensing.
- Strategic Planning: You’ll be an important part of crafting our strategic plan, your board team will approve it and prepare JMHS for the long term.
- Compliance: Protect JMHS’ assets and reputation and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Risk Management: The healthcare arena is an ever-changing landscape. Not all scenarios can be anticipated in the strategic plan, so you’ll be kept aware of changes in regulations, competition, and workplace satisfaction.
- Community Representation: JMHS is community-owned, so we depend on you to act as a representative of your township to make sure that its healthcare needs are met.
