As we age, most of us begin to accumulate plaque in the arteries of our body. Some of us accumulate this plaque more quickly than others, usually for a number of reasons. Our cholesterol levels may be high, we may be overweight, our blood pressure may be higher than we would like, maybe we smoke, maybe heart disease runs in our family, or we don’t exercise enough……..we all mean to change for the better, but it is hard to do.
The best way to avoid these potentially life-threatening events is to get a Stroke Screening every year or two. You should get a Stroke Screening if you are over 40, and have any of the following risk factors:
- Over 40 years of age
- Heart Disease
- High Cholesterol
- Irregular Heart Beat
- High Blood Pressure
- Smoking (past or current)
- Inactive Lifestyle
- Family History
