Johnson Memorial Health Services is ready to begin Phase II of the Capital Construction Project. Phase I of the project was building the replacement Care Center and Surgery Suite. With the Care Center complete and the Surgery Suite scheduled to be finished in November, construction will focus on Phase II, demolishing the old Care Center.
JMHS moved residents and staff into the new replacement Care Center on June 20, 2018. As a result of the move, the old Care Center is now closed to the public. Care Center visitors and family members should use the entrances located on Chestnut Street and Memorial Place or the main Clinic/Hospital entrance to access the Care Center.
K-Bid, an online auction house, is selling all the fixtures, furniture and equipment in the old Care Center that were not moved to the new building. The on-line auction closes on Monday, July 9th with all items to be removed on Wednesday, July 11th.
Demolition of the old Care Center is scheduled to take place in July. Hasslen Construction will recycle much of the building. The brick and concrete will be crushed and used for base fill and the metal will be separated so that it can also be recycled.
After demolition is complete, construction will begin on Phase III. Building a new Clinic/Hospital Entrance, helipad, parking lot and some internal renovations. Phase III is scheduled to be complete in Spring of 2019.
