I have fond memories of August and the preparations for heading back to school to begin another year in my educational journey. Back-to-school shopping was one of the first tasks that included finding the right pens or folders, then stressing about whether the in-style clothes would be on sale. Once that was completed, our county fair allowed us to show off those new tennis shoes, compare class schedules with friends, and take in mini donuts before our sports coaches lectured us on the benefits of healthy eating.
Then it was the sports physical. Ugg, I did not enjoy going to the doctor, especially if I wasn’t sick. It wasn’t until my eighth-grade year that the doctor noticed a foot issue that impacted my running. After a quick stop for some added arch supports, I was off to the tennis court with an extra spring in my step. From then on, I looked forward to them each time, wondering what secret ailment they may uncover or feeling accomplished when I got the word that I was in tip-top shape.
At JMHS, we understand that going back to school carries a variety of stress, and we do not want our wellness checks or sports physicals to be something that a student or athlete dreads. We were once students and athletes too. Call today to schedule your back-to-school appointment, and feel free to show off those new shoes or your class schedule.
