Johnson Memorial Health Services (JMHS) held its third annual Golf Fore! Health Tournament on August 4 at the Dawson Golf Course. The best ball, four-person scramble, had fifty-two participants. The 2021 tournament champions won $400.00; the winning team included Scott Ochsendorf, Esten Weber, Mike Pederson, & Jake Farmen.
Through sponsorships and golfers, the tournament raised just over $6,000. This year’s proceeds go towards the Dawson-Boyd Dr. Maus Scholarship and the Providing Dental Care Fundraiser. This year, the JMHS Foundation is raising funds to put a dental office in the Care Center. JMHS received a $50,000 grant and must raise an additional $30,000 to complete the project. COVID-19 restrictions really highlighted the importance of providing dental services in-house.
The Dr. Maus scholarship is awarded annually to Dawson-Boyd graduates and alumni pursuing careers in healthcare. To date, the scholarship fund has provided over $69,500 in Scholarships! This year $100.00 scholarships were awarded to Maddie Erdman – Nursing, Elly Stratmoen – Nursing, and Jordon Hastad – Biology. A $500 scholarship was awarded to past recipient Mary Bothun – Nursing.
