At Johnson Memorial Health Services’ (JMHS) we are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to improve the health and wellness of our community. Recently we upgraded our electronic medical records or EMR system to Epic, the preferred system most healthcare organizations use. The patient portal, MyChart, powered through Epic, is used by 78% of patients in the United States. With MyChart, patients and their providers can easily share medical record information with their healthcare team and have access to medical history. In Mychart they can also pay their bill, schedule appointments, request prescription refills, communicate with their provider, and hold telehealth appointments.
We are extremely proud of the campus improvements, including a new care center, surgery suite, and updated front main entrance and parking lot completed in 2019. These important updates allow us to increase our scope of practice, including knee and joint replacements and create a beautiful space for our residents to call home. The above-ground tunnels connecting the entire healthcare campus provide welcomed protection against the harsh Minnesota weather. These improvements were the outcome of a facilities master plan completed in 2013.
At JMHS, our vision is to inspire change and make a healthy difference in people’s lives. This vision inspires us to look to the future continually. We are currently working with Wold Architects and Engineers to develop a new facilities master plan to help prepare for various changes. A facilities master plan is usually done every three to five years in a rapidly changing healthcare environment. It creates a living document that JMHS can use as a road map for long-term goals and planning.
The best facility master plans are created with input from diverse community stakeholders who will be impacted directly and indirectly. We encourage all community members to take the 5-minute survey to help us plan for the future. Your valued input will help us determine what the future of healthcare looks like in our community.
The survey is available online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GDS77TJ, The link is also available on our social media channels, website (www.jmhsmn.org), and via QR code link in an ad in this week’s Dawson Sentinel newspaper. The survey closes on Wednesday, November 30. Please contact Kristyn Wicht at 320-769-4323 with any questions.
