Johnson Memorial Health Services Care Center is now officially a VA certified nursing home. JMHS has worked on the VA certification for more than a year. The certification allows JMHS to accept payments through the VA.
While JMCC has enjoyed housing numerous veterans throughout the years, Reuben Bakken is the first official VA resident. The certification provided Rueben with the opportunity to move to JMCC and back home to Dawson. He and his family have enjoyed having him so close by. His wife, Lorraine, is now able to visit more often and join him for various activities like Bingo.
Reuben has really enjoyed moving to JMCC. He feels like everyone here really cares about him. His family says that he has really perked up since his move. Moving back to his community, he is surrounded by family and friends. He especially enjoys the frequent visits from his children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren!
“We are so excited to offer this new service for veterans,” said Stacey Lee, JMHS CEO. “It is already difficult for many people to move out of their home, let alone their community. Having an option for VA members to remain in the community is very important to us.”
As with any insurance carrier, there are requirements that must be met for approval. JMHS will work with your VA office to determine if you have the appropriate service connectedness to have nursing home expenses covered through the VA.
