Johnson Memorial Health Services hosted their fifth annual “Ladies Night Out” event on Thursday, October 24, from 5:30-8:00pm at the Hilltop Bar and Grill. Over 160 women from surrounding communities attended this year’s event. All attendees enjoyed creamy wild rice or vegetable beef soup, breadsticks, pie, coffee, and apple cider.
The night started at 6:15pm with JMHS CEO, Stacey Lee, welcoming everyone to the event. Diane Peet gave a quick overview of the Dawson Food Shelf and the critical role it plays in our community. Renae Durfee FNP and Lindsay Ourada RD did a short 10-minute presentation on the JMHS Weight Loss Diet Plan before the keynote speaker.
Renee Rongen delivered a powerful message with her keynote address Lipstick, Laughter, and Life. She had everyone both laughing and crying as she shared some of the ups and downs in her life. She encouraged us to be kind to one another, as we never know what battles each of us is fighting. She ended the night, encouraging us to go all-in with our lives. We don’t know how much time we have on earth, and we should live each day to the fullest!
This year JMHS asked attendees to bring an item to donate for the Dawson food shelf or make a cash donation. That night people donated 188 pounds of food and $169.00 in cash! Thank you to everyone who brought something or made a donation to the food shelf.
JMHS would like to thank Hilltop Bar and Grill for preparing and serving the delicious meal. A special thank you to the JMHS Foundation Community Relations Committee for putting together a great evening! Committee members include Melissa Anderson, Sandy Club, Carole Femrite, Maggie Madsen, Val Olson, Lindsay Ourada, and Leah Prestholdt.
