What a fun week last week was celebrating our Blackjack students! From the crowing of the King and Queen to the runaway win from the football team, it was a fun week of celebrations.
Homecoming is said to have started in the early 1900s when colleges would invite their alums back to share in a rival game and visit with other alums. When I think of homecoming, I also think of welcoming back people to our area, whether former business owners, employees or citizens. The thought of a homecoming warms my heart. Having grown up in a small town like Dawson, I, too, appreciate the welcoming response I receive when I visit familiar restaurants and shops in my hometown.
I have also found our Dawson community has many welcoming organizations, such as our Chamber of Commerce, Dawson Development, and our City Administration, among many others. The next time you think of homecoming, think of our community. We are here to welcome you back at any time.
