With the rise in active shooter events across the nation, Johnson Memorial Health Services (JMHS), in addition to the schools in Lac qui Parle County, have undergone training by local law enforcement and certified ALICE instructors from JMHS. The ALICE Training Institute teaches a proactive range of tactics to employ when faced with an intruder or active shooter situation versus the traditional “lockdown only” approach.
Certified ALICE instructors who provided the training are local law enforcement officers Jordan Baldwin, Joe Unzen, Cole Weick, and Brian Benck, as well as Ann Jenson from SW EMS, and Cori Bothun and Jen Erdmann from JMHS. Andy Stock from the Dawson Police Department also assisted in the training exercises.
