Johnson Memorial Health Services (JMHS) held its second annual Golf Fore! Health Tournament from August 24 – September 7 at the Dawson Golf Course. This year the event allowed teams to golf for two weeks and turn in their best nine scores. The 2020 tournament champions were Ken Sather, Scott Ochsendorf, Dustin Bothun, & Jake Farmen and Esten Weber, Noah Stelter, Justin Lee, & Tyler Erickson, who tied with a score of 26. They split the $400 prize money.
The best ball, four-person scramble, had fewer participants this year, but thanks to our wonderful sponsors, we raised just under $6,000. This year’s proceeds go towards the Dawson-Boyd Dr. Maus Scholarship and the purchase of a new LUCAS Machine for the Ambulance. A Lucas machine is a CPR device that delivers uninterrupted chest compressions at a consistent rate and depth.
The Dr. Maus scholarship is awarded annually to Dawson-Boyd graduates and alumni pursuing careers in healthcare. To date, the scholarship fund has provided over $66,000 in Scholarships! This year $750 scholarships were awarded to: Kylie Wendinger – Physical Therapy, Rachel Hahn – Physical Therapy, Jade Bukowski – Surgical Technology, and Zach Durfee – Dentistry.
Since this year’s tourney was done virtually, additional prizes categories were added. Winners included: Best Team Picture: Jingle Ballers; Best Selfie: Leah Prestholdt; Best Golf Pose: Q92 FM Radio; and Most Spirit (lowest score): JMHS Ballers.
