Johnson Memorial Health Services (JMHS) Chief of Staff, Dr. Ayaz Virji, tendered his resignation and has accepted a position with New York University (NYU) in Dubai. He started his new job in April, however, he will return to work at JMHS in June & July. Dr. Virji and his family will move to Dubai in August.
Dr. Virji and his family intend to keep their house in Dawson, return each December as well as during some of the summer months. They also plan to continue their Body Togs business in the Dawson location. His wife, Musarrat intends to keep her Esthetician business, Ultima Skincare, and see clients when they return. JMHS would like to wish Dr. Virji and his family the best with this new opportunity.
JMHS is staffed with six of the most knowledgeable and caring providers in the area. Drs. Larry Grong and Erik Shelstad, and Family Nurse Practitioners (FNP) Carla Lee, Julie Olson, Renae Durfee, and Ali Peterson are available to see patients. JMHS is currently in the process of recruiting for a physician to round out our primary care medical staff team.
The popular bariatric practice will continue through a team-based model of care. Renae Durfee, FNP and Ali Peterson, APRN-CNP have joined Dr. Virji and Lindsay Ourada, Registered Dietitian (RD) to provide the full spectrum of bariatric services. Dr. Virji is training Renae and Ali on all facets of the program. Also, he will continue to lead the program and collaborate weekly with the Bariatric Team and plans to see patients twice a year at JMHS.
