Halloween is right around the corner, and many of us are stocking up on those sugary treats to entice the little gremlins when they visit our homes. As I looked at the treat section of the store to begin my preparations, I wondered what the alternatives might be to passing out candy. I did what most would do and asked Siri for some advice. Here is what she said…. Glow bracelets, hair scrunchies, novelty glasses, stickers, bookmarks, pencils/erasers, and bubbles, to name a few. There were several alternatives to handing out candy and those items with high sugar content. These types of things, in my experience, leave parents frustrated by trips to the dentist or kids avoiding bedtimes after consuming too many sugary treats. I liked the idea of giving a non-consumable item that a child could use for entertainment. Sorry siblings, there may be fewer of the sweet treats this year to share.
