Who doesn’t like to indulge in a little self-care occasionally? When I think of self-care, my mind typically goes to spending time unplugged from electronics, exercising, going to the beauty shop, or reading a book in quiet surroundings. I understand that “self-care” may not mean the same to everyone. To some, self-care may be scheduling that doctor appointment you have been putting off while taking that vacation.
I think everyone needs to think of self-care like an automobile needs an oil change. Without a refresh of the oil in our engines, we will not work as well. Lack of self-care can cause a person to lower their productivity, be prone to lingering disease, and suffer from mental health issues. At JMHS, we have many options for self-care, such as therapeutic massage, preventative exams, counseling services, and more. Put “self-care” on your agenda today or schedule a time in the future to take care of you. Remember, an automobile can only run so long on the same oil before its engine burns out.
