Give me the beat….
February is designated as heart health month. You may see folks dressed in red during the month to raise awareness of the importance of heart health. The average person who lives 70 years old will have had 2.5 billion heartbeats. According to the American Heart Association, the heart also works harder on average than any other muscle in the body. When you take a moment to think about it, it is important work your heart does each day. Every year, I make it a personal mission to share awareness of the positive benefits of exercise, eating a balanced diet, and getting your annual exams. Heart attacks or irregularities can occur at any age. At JMHS, we had the honor of treating a young patient who knew their symptoms didn’t feel quite right and presented with cardiac arrest. A life was saved due to recognizing the symptoms of a heart attack and seeking treatment immediately. Don’t miss a beat, and get your heart checked out.
