Johnson Memorial Health Services (JMHS) is pleased to welcome Dr. Erik Shelstad to their healthcare provider team. His practice will focus on family medicine, including performing minor surgeries. Dr. Shelstad received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota. He completed residency training at Duluth Family Practice Program in Duluth, MN and a General Surgery Internship at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Augusta, GA.
Dr, Shelstad choose a career in healthcare to impact people’s lives positively. He enjoys his role as a physician finding it both challenging and fulfilling.
“I want to practice rural medicine in a progressive and independent facility,” said Shelstad. “I look forward to working in a close-knit, congenial environment with a strong focus on patient care.”
Dr. Shelstad is originally from Madison, MN and has a five-year-old son named Soren. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, woodworking, hunting, gardening, and cooking.
Dr. Shelstad will begin working at Johnson Memorial Health Services on February 12, 2018. An open house to welcome Dr. Shelstad is Tuesday, February 20 at 3:00 pm in the Care Center Activities Room.
