Well, the good news is that Hasslen Construction Company (HCC) and the subcontractors have been busy working on the footings and foundations for the 2 residential wings of the new care center. They had virtually completed the 1st residential wing (B) and were set to start on the 2nd residential wing (C) when BOOM – the temperatures took a nose dive. These frigid temperatures create challenges for the excavator, the underground plumbing, and the concrete work, due to the ground freezing and concrete curing issues. The plan continues to be to finish the footings and foundations on the 2nd residential wing as soon as the weather permits, with some additional workarounds. Once this occurs, the work will begin “above ground” for the remainder of the winter months, which is not so dependent on the temperature.
