Johnson Memorial Health Services (JMHS) has provider changes happening this Spring. Dr. Ralph Gerbig is transitioning out of his primary care practice in May of this year. JMHS greatly appreciates his 37 years of dedication to his patients, our facility, and the community! Dr. Gerbig’s last day providing primary care services to clinic patients will be on May 13, 2016. His panel of patients will be given the option to be seen by our new provider, Dr. Larry Grong, or by one of our clinic’s nurse practitioners. Dr. Gerbig will, however, continue to provide ongoing services for the Emergency Department, Hospital Inpatients, and the residents of the Care Center.
JMHS is pleased to announce that Dr. Larry Grong will be joining the family of providers. Dr. Grong has more than 23 years of practice. His practice will focus on family medicine, meaning he will provide comprehensive health care for people of all ages. Dr. Grong is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics by the American Osteopathic Association. He received his DO from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri and residency training at Western Reserve Care System in Youngstown, Ohio.
Dr. Grong and his wife, Deb have been married for 42 years. They have three adult children, Kjersten, Rakel, and Bjorn. All of their children are in healthcare. Kjersten is a charge nurse at Mayo in Rochester and Rakel is a nurse at the VA in Sioux Falls. Their son Bjorn, who has a degree in musical engineering, has recently gone back to school to pursue a degree in medical engineering. Rakel and her husband Mike have two children, Ethan, who is 7 and Emma, who is just over a year old.
JMHS is excited for both Dr. Gerbig and Dr. Grong as they begin these new chapters in their lives! Dr. Grong starts seeing patients starting May 16th. To make an appointment to see Dr. Grong, please call 320-769-4393.
