When Dennis and Ruby Anderson heard about the new care center being built in town, they were very excited about the new facility and what it would mean to the community. The Anderson’s were familiar with the JMHS Care Center. They were impressed with the level of care that Dennis’s mother received when she lived there.
To the Andersons having a care center in town allowed them to visit his mother every day. They know first-hand how important it is to have a place for the seniors of Dawson to receive wonderful care without having to leave the community they call home.
“We’ve had so many friends and family members that have received such good care that it left such a lasting impression on us,” said Dennis. We feel so fortunate to have this home so close to our home.”
Dennis and Ruby discussed it with their daughter, Cheryl, and all agreed that donating to the fundraising campaign was the right thing to do. The Anderson’s generous $200,000 donation to the JMHS Foundation’s Caring for the Community campaign, is the largest single donation to date.
“Dawson has always been good to us,” said Ruby. “They supported me when I had Fashion Villa for 33 years. So, this is our opportunity to give back. Plus, it feels really good to give!”
Their generous donation was made in memory of Dennis and Ruby’s son, Steven J. Anderson who passed away at age 60. $100,000 was donated by the Anderson’s while the additional $100,000 was donated from the Steven J. Anderson Memorial Fund. The Andersons chose the Town Center as their naming recognition opportunity.
“Dennis and Ruby have been so generous throughout the community,” said Dean Pearson, Major Gifts Committee member. “we were beyond thrilled when they told us of their generous intentions.”
All proceeds for the Caring for our Community campaign is being used to ensure the new Care Center is built to its greatest potential. To date, the JMHS Foundation has raised $966,000 towards its $1.4 million dollar goal.
