Johnson Memorial Health Services was pleased to present Women of Exceptional Worth held on Saturday, October 12 at Memorial Auditorium. The doors opened at 8:00 am with flavored coffee from Marc’s on Main, a variety of delicious scones and shopping at the in-house boutique.
The half day began with Lachelle Gelhar, a pharmacist from Rice Memorial Hospital and Granite Falls Municipal Hospital, discussing an overview of popular herbs and supplements. Her presentation titled “The Good, The Bad and The Unknown” dove into the negative and also the positive effects that herbs and supplements can have on a person’s health. She provided the group with a variety of informational sites they could use to research herbs and supplements. She also recommended talking with your practitioner because certain medications should not be mixed with herbs and supplements.
Jill Christie, BC-FNP, spoke about Osteoporosis. Alarmingly women have a 50/50 chance of incurring the bone disease during their lifetime. She brought actual samples of healthy and unhealthy bones so the audience could see first hand the damage that can be done. Her talk was not only educational but also motivated everyone in attendance to start thinking about their own bone health and what steps they could take to improve it.
The event ended with keynote speaker Renée Rongen. Her talk, Fundamentally Female™, inspired the women in attendance to quit dancing around the edge and go “all in” with their lives! She took the audience on an emotional journey that captured the elusive, universal spirit of “Every Woman.” Renée’s message was upbeat and unforgettable; empowering everyone in the audience to become architects of their own lives.
The in-house boutique featured vendors from It Works, Scentsy, Tastefully Simple, Thirty-One, Nerium, JMHS, MNsure, Advocare, Nessas Naturals, Mary Kay, Norwax, Two Farm Girls and Lynn Swanson’s homemade mittens.
